On September 8, 2026, the Lviv Region Agricultural Forum—the tenth regional forum dedicated to current challenges, issues, and development prospects of the agricultural sector—took place at the Lviv Regional Council.
Representing the Institute of Animal Biology of the NAAS at the forum were Andrii Pylypets, Scientific Secretary of the Institute; Vasyl Kaplinskyi, Head of the Laboratory of Environmental Physiology and Product Quality; and Ivan Luchka, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Intellectual Property and Analytical Research.
Participants included Members of Parliament of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Lviv Regional Council, the Lviv Regional Military Administration, territorial communities, agribusinesses, industry associations, the expert community, and partner organizations.
The forum's main theme was a discussion of pressing issues facing the agricultural sector amidst the full-scale war. Participants examined matters such as the financial stability of agricultural enterprises, access to credit, logistics, rising production input costs, state support, and the creation of favorable conditions for the stable operation of agricultural producers.
Key speakers at the forum included Liudmyla Honcharenko, Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional Military Administration; Taras Vysotskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine; and Olesia Shakalo-Olshanetska, a farmer and board member of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council. Participants paid special attention to the panel discussion titled "The Role of Parliament in Ensuring the Competitiveness and Development of the Agricultural Sector," which was joined by Members of Parliament elected from the Lviv region.
During the forum, key challenges facing the agricultural sector were outlined, and potential solutions were identified through an open dialogue involving government officials, agribusiness representatives, experts, and other attendees.
A significant focus of the forum was the discussion of the current state and future prospects of the livestock industry. Participants addressed issues regarding the preservation and restoration of livestock populations, support for livestock enterprises, and the creation of favorable conditions for the sector's continued growth.
For the Institute of Animal Biology of the NAAS—an institution dedicated to providing scientific support for livestock development—the issues raised at the forum are of particular importance. The participation of the Institute’s scientists in such events fosters collaboration among the scientific community, agricultural producers, and government authorities, while also creating opportunities to incorporate scientific approaches and modern research findings into the development of practical solutions for the agricultural sector.
