On October 22, 2026, Taras Yaroslavovych Prudius, a researcher at the Institute of Animal Biology of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS), delivered an open guest lecture for the course "Veterinary Toxicology." The topic was "Mycotoxicoses in Animals: From Contaminated Feed to Pathogenesis, Clinical Diagnosis, and Prevention".
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, and Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Immunology, Dr. Prudius shared his scientific expertise and practical experience regarding the diagnosis and prevention of mycotoxicoses with the students.
The lecture focused on the progression of mycotoxins—from their presence in contaminated feed to their impact on an animal's body. The speaker covered the classification of mycotoxins, their mechanisms of action, the clinical manifestations of poisoning, and diagnostic approaches. He placed particular emphasis on integrating clinical examination findings, feed analysis, and the epizootic situation to differentiate mycotoxicoses from infectious diseases. Additionally, the discussion addressed feed quality and safety, the causes of contamination, and measures to prevent mycotoxicoses in livestock.
The session took the form of a lively dialogue; real-world examples from veterinary practice encouraged students to ask questions, engage in discussion, and apply their newly acquired knowledge to address specific clinical scenarios. For the Institute of Animal Biology of the NAAS, such meetings offer an opportunity to share scientific findings and contribute to the training of future veterinarians.
We thank the organizers for their cooperation, and the students for their active participation and interest!
